Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw

About

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie) is a public institution dedicated to collecting, researching, and promoting contemporary cultural heritage. It fosters dialogue and aesthetic appreciation while evolving alongside the city, responding to current social realities.

Support framework

Primary Forms is a collaboration between the EFC Foundation and the Museum, which provides students across Poland with artworks and creative tools designed by international artists. The initiative allows students to experience and engage with contemporary art, transforming schools into interactive museum spaces. The program encourages a symbolic rupture in the expectations for both schools and institutions. The works can become elements of scenography, didactic aids, decoration, or part of infrastructure; but they can also be immaterial and performative practices like happenings, musical compositions, or choreography. Offering an immeasurable set of possibilities, the works in the program serve as tools to help us unlearn, to imagine the impossible, and to explore what we can do with art. In the same spirit, the program challenges the preconceptions about owning art, granting its partners legal ownership of the works. In 2024, the EFC Foundation also decided to support the overall structure of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw in connection with the opening of its new headquarters.
