We are high school and university students from small towns and villages. We all are (or were) participants of the Horizons Scholarship Program (former ‘Education Dreams’ EFC Foundation Program). We have one more thing in common: we all want to be able to speak for ourselves and have our voices heard.

The Women’s Strike in autumn gave us all a sense of empowerment – even though protesting in the streets of a small town is not the same as marching through Warsaw or Krakow. We would like to talk about what the Constitutional Court’s verdict means for us and our lives. Helplessness, sadness, anger, hope, bitter disappointment – all those feelings have led us to different decisions: activism, strikes, difficult conversations with our loved ones, or even making plans to leave Poland.

We grew up in different homes and families, had different experiences. What we do share is the conviction that feminism is not a radical ideology, nor is it a battleground made to fight those who think differently. It is simply a part of who we are.

You are strongly encouraged to listen to our stories from various parts of Poland, and to take part in our discussion entitled ‘Our personal strike’. The discussion will be moderated by Sylwia Chutnik.
